About the market
As consumers in Central Europe become omnichannel shoppers, they gain more awareness, becoming more educated on price and product features. Retailers and CPG manufacturers must therefore ensure a consistent, value-oriented presence across channels.

In Europe, e-commerce use is on the rise, as the number and share of e-shoppers increases every year. The most significant jump in e-shoppers can be seen in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic pushing consumers to online shopping. All 37 countries experienced increases in B2C e-commerce turnover and E-GDP (the share of GDP by e-commerce).
Turnover growth rates for Europe have remained consistently in the double-digits and are expected to continue an upward trajectory for the foreseeable future.

In 2020 Western Europe reached the highest share of total European e-commerce turnover with a 64% market share. Southern Europe holds 16% of total turnover.
However, in terms of growth, Eastern Europe shined in 2020 with a rate of 36%, while Western Europe’s growth rate remained moderate at 4%. Central and Southern Europe growth rates in 2020 reached 28% and 24% accordingly.
